Just An Update On Me

So, it's occurred to me that I've never really shared with all of my many dedicated readers (OK, that may be a stretch, but whatevs.......) that I've never really shared with you guys anything about myself. I mean yeah I have the small bio, and all of these posts are a reflection of myself and my interests and opinions, but I never share what's going on in my life. So I thought that I'd share with you guys some things about me recently: what new games I have, things going on with the church, what the future looks like, etc..I promise that I'll also have an actual blog post posted shortly after this.

Recently things have been, ...... uhm, ..... Crazy? I guess. I don't really know the right word for it. A lot's been going on, but I haven't necessarily been busy..... Does that make sense? Oh well.

We're in three weeks into November now, and It's just crazy how fast 2014 has gone by, and all of the different changes in my life. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll have a post solely dedicated to looking back at 2014 either at the very end of the year, or immediately after 2015 begins.

The there are two main things that I wanted to share with you guys, but one I will save for the very last part of the post, because it's the most important.

I've been sick for almost a full week now (as pictured above) ......... and it sucks! I got sick last weekend after having a hang out night with the youth at church. I'm not blaming them at all! Lol those kids are amazing, and even they had gotten me sick, it would've been worth it. I think it's just how cold I keep my Man Cave and how cold the temperature outside has gotten. I can NOT handle being hot, whatsoever. I keep it cold 24/7. I'm Mr. Snow Miser I guess. But yeah, I've barely done anything this week. I've mostly just been sleeping. I'm even missing the Video Game Olympics that one of the churches in town are hosting!!! *Angry Face!* Just stuck at the Man Cave being all Sicky McGhee over here.

In way of Video Games, last month I picked up Smash Bros! Then this week I picked up my pre-ordered copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of my free-time that I feel like being awake have gone to that! I've also started trying to build an Assassin's Creed collection. I know, I'm getting on board super late. I'm Sorry. But so far I have the first game, and then the Ezio Trilogy, which is composed of the second game, Brotherhood, and Revelations. Then I also got the first Mass Effect on X-Box Live. Another game that I'm way behind on playing, I know. That's about it, that's worth mentioning at least.

Movies: Last Month I saw Annabelle in theaters, and it scared the mess out of me..... I honestly think that may be the scariest movie I've ever seen; I haven't quite decided yet. Then this month I saw Interstellar with my friend Adam, and we both thought it was great.* I've also gotten to see quite a few recent films lately. I've seen X-Men: Days of Future Past, 22 Jump Street, A Million Ways To Die In The West, Neighbors, VHS: Viral, Odd Thomas, and I think that's it. I have a copy of Maleficent now, but I haven't watched it yet. I'm super excited to though. Also, Adam and I, as well as my brother Joel and best bud Dean all watched a ton of scary movies for Halloween including: Poltergeist, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, You're Next, The Excrocist, VHS 1 &2, Village of the Damned, and then the 80's version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Ok, so TV nowadays is just phenomenal, am I right? So far I'm up to date withall of the Walking Dead, Once Upon A Time*, The Flash, Gotham, American Horror Story: Freak Show, and Brooklyn 99. Unfortunately, I've just today finished the VGHS Series, and I shed several tears. Episode 4 of Season 3=Straight to the feels...... I've recently gotten in to the shows Community and The 100. Polar Opposites, I know. I finally got Marvel's Agents of Shield Season 1, and I can finally watch Arrow Season 2 on Netflix now. Other than that, I'm really into the Syfy Show The Almighty Johnsons, and then Girl Meets World (don't you DARE judge me). I can't watch the newest season of Doctor Who because I don't have BBC and am furious everyday over it. I'm ready for Face Off to come back, as well as Wizard Wars, Heroes of Cosplay, and Jim Henson's Creature Show Challenge to come back on, as well as Parks and Rec and Community.

I'm sure that you guys noticed the astricks (*) in the paragraphs above. One new thing that's happened recently is that I've become on of Geeks Under Grace's (geeksundergrace.com) newest TV Reviewers! Every week I watch Once Upon A Time, review it, and post my thoughts on their website usually every Monday, maybe on Tuesday if it's a busy week. The website is Awesome! They do reviews on just about everything in pop culture: movies, tv shows, music, video games, everything! I'm super thankful to apart of their website, and I hope you guys will go and read my reviews and give me some feedback!

Also, my friend Adam is trying to start up his own blog dedicated to movie reviewing, but he and I are looking at teaming up for some new projects, including starting our own Twitch stream and doing a movie review podcast. He's a major cine-buff, and is a big fan of slasher/horror movies, and really anything from the 80's. I prefer more modern movies. So we kind of have a good yin and yang thing going on. Be looking for more updates on that, and as soon as Adam does his first blog post, I will definitely be sharing the link on here. Also, I have some friends of mine working on designing a 2ndTierGuardian Logo!!!! I'm Super Excited. One of my friends sent me a rough sketch picture and it looks amazing! As soon as it's ready I'll upload the Crap out of it!

As far as the church is concerned, we're doing great! Members are joining all the time. We have soooo much going on that honestly, there's a place for everyone. Whether you wanna roll up your sleeves and work, or you just have time for a weekly Bible study, or whatever your needs are, our church is awesome about meeting them. Our Pastor Bro. Micah is a one of a kind man who truly wants to help you personally find God's Will for YOUR life and will help you any way he can. I am the youth pastor and do my best to both keep the teens involved and teach them what God has for their lives. This week we made and delivered Thanksgiving Baskets for the members of our church that are shut ins. Last month we We went on a trip to a Haunted Corn Maze. Next month we'll be having a Celebrity Look-A-Like Contest and then our Christmas Party. We tried to start a lesson Series on Cults and Religions of the World, but quickly got side tracked, so come January we'll be picking that back up. It's busy and hectic, but 100% Worth It!

I feel like I should add something about the Man Cave. Nah, I'll Just Show You Guys!!!
My Bedroom

Le Shower

My Bathroom Sink

Joel's Messy Bedroom (When He's here, which will be full time come January)

My Closet

Joel's Pantry and Closet

The Work-Station

My Toilet, a Vital Necessity

My Entertainment HQ

My Kitchen

My Living Room (I've gotten a new couch since this was taken, so this couch is in my office at church)

My Bookshelf/Counter

Here's the second thing I wanted to say: I need your prayers. My family needs your prayers. I won't go in to detail (for my families sake), but my Mom is in some pretty bad pain, and my Dad and Brother, as well as the rest of my family back home, are doing everything they can to help her. It's hard for me, because I'm not there anymore. I'll maybe get a phone call once a day to get an update. She's back at work now, which I think is Ridiculous, but she's gotta do what she's gotta do (I don't mean that in a rude way, I just don't want her to get hurt). But, I get to go home next week for Christmas, so maybe I'll get to help her out while I'm there. Just please pray for us.

There ya go guys! Now you know the essentials. Can you guys believe that I'm almost up to 1,000 views?!? It's crazy! I'd love to hit that number before 2015 so Share Share Share!!! I'll try to have something up before I go home next week, but if I don't then I'll make up for it. Also, the week from Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve I'll be back home too, so bear with me. I'll be back representing the Geekery like Nobody's Business! Take care guys!!!!

The Top 5 Responses I Get When I Tell People I'm A Minister & A Geek

So, as I've several times in my posts, I'm a Christian. I'm a Missionary Baptist. To be even more specific, I'm the Youth/Assosciate Pastor at Calvary MBC in Magnolia, AR. I'm also a geek, obviously. I rep my Geekery proudly. That's the premise of this post: how people react to me being both a geek and a preacher. You can't even begin to imagine some of the responses I get when people find out that I teach Sunday school AND lead a crusade against the blight in Dragon Age; that I do puppet shows for the church youth AND got my Blastoise up to level 75 on Pokemon X; that I take the teens to camp over the summer AND that my DVR is full of The Walking Dead, Once Upon A Time, The Flash, Arrow, Marvel Agents of Shield, Gotham, Girl Meets World, and The Five Year Engagement (ok, those last two may have revealed TOO much about myself...... I'm so ashamed). People seem almost appalled sometimes when they find this out and I would wonder why? However, at the same time, people's expectations of Pastor's are set so high, it's a wonder anyone ever lasts in ministry. All of that being said, let's get into it, shall we?

The Top 5 Responses I Get When People Hear That I'm A Geek & A Minister:

5) "You Must Be A Youth Pastor." Why yes, actually, I am. This is the one I get the least. As a youth pastor, I do kind of have an excuse to still be quote "childish". As a youth pastor, it is important to stay up to date with what the youth is immersing themselves in. Video Games, Juvenile Fiction Books, TV Shows and Movies are what they're into, and it's what you can use to relate to them. The Gospel is meant to be spread, but it's also meant to be shared in a way that people can understand, and being a geek and witnessing to other geeks, it's my job to reach them in a way that they can better come to know Christ. Being a youth pastor means that I am trying to lead kids to Christ, and I can't do that unless I can be on their level. I have to be immersed into what they're always around.

4) "Does The Church Know About This?" Ask anyone at my church, and they'll either tell you that I'm weird, eccentric, a geek, a nerd, or that I'm "crazy" as the kids in children church say. Yes, the church knows that I'm a geek. They know that I'm odd, and a goof ball. All of these blog posts are "advertised" on my Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I'm not ashamed of showing people who I really am. I'm 100% saved. I love Christ, with my whole heart. I'm also a geek. I am who Christ made me. I believe that I am upfront enough that I'm a Christian and that everything I post you can see that. Is every church member thrilled by all of my decisions? No. Everyone will NEVER be pleased with Everything you do. That's a fact. So I'm me. I never try to be anything other than me. As long as I am right with God, what other people say or do or feel, doesn't matter. Bottom line.

3) "Don't You Have Better Things To Do?" Ok, ....... sometimes, Yes, there are other things I could be doing. There's ALWAYS something the everyone could be doing more productive. So honestly, I can't really argue my way out of this one. Nor could anyone. I could try to bring up the fact that at-least I'm not doing this or this person does that or blah blah blah. That's called justification. I'm not gonna justify the fact that sometimes I geek out on things when I should be doing something else. I'll simply say this: I would never let my Geekery become a problem. If it ever gets to the point that my geekiness overshadows my Christianity, then I'm doing something wrong, and I'll do my best to change it.

2) "Isn't That Sacrilegious?" Is what Sacrilegious Having a hobby? Being passionate about something? No! Of course not. Being a geek/games/movie enthusiast/nerd/whatever isn't sac-religious. Some of the options that are available to get passionate about are, yes. But loving video games and watching movies aren't sacrilegious, no. We have to guard our hearts and not give in to temptation. We have to be selective when it comes to choosing what we Geek out on. That should go without saying, but unfortunately it has to be repeated constantly. We have to look past stereotypes and get into the nitty gritty, but for most people, it's easier to judge things as a whole. Being a geek doesn't make you sacrilegious. Being sacrilegious make you sacrilegious. Going against what God has said is right and wrong for us, that's the problem.

& finally, the response I get the most

1) "Grow Up." I'll admit, this one does tend to get under my skin. How do you respond to this? What do you say? When people say this, their minds are pretty much made up about what's "acceptable" to them. Being a geek isn't about age appropriate-ness, it's a lifestyle. It's something that transcends age. It's also something that has to be carefully entered into. Again, as I've stated in the other points: we have to be careful about what we Geek out on. Some things, the world has deemed wrong, or unacceptable, or childish, and we live in that world. Honestly, what we need to do is pray. Pray about whatever it is we want to be passionate about. See what God's Word has to say about it. Most people go to the passage of Scripture in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 where Paul said, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child:but when I became a man, I put away childish things." But that's taking the verse out of context. That entire chapter is about how we love as compared to God's love. God's love is patient and understanding, and when people try to tear us down or make fun of us for our interests and hobbies, then they aren't being very understanding or patient with us. Grow up. I am a grown up, and I have interests. I have hobbies. I have things that I am passionate about. I have grown up, and as a grown up, I don't demean others for what they care about.

That's my list. These things are almost always said to me when people find out what my interests are and consider what my profession, or really calling, is. What do you guys think? Is it wrong to be a Geek and a Preacher? What are your opinions on the matter? Let me know in the comments below. And remember, never let your Geekery outshine God and what He's doing through You!

Serious Take On Something Non-Serious: Analyzing the Doctor

The last post that I did like this seemed to go over pretty well, so I thought I'd try this again. Often times my mind will over analyze things that I love. For example, in my last Serious Take On Something Non-Serious post, I showed how my brain developed a what some may call irrational fear of Superman being real. It's not that I don't want Superheroes to be real; I really do (like seriously guys you have no idea). My fear is that Superman is just entirely ridiculously hilariously too powerful and I'm too afraid that he would develop a God complex and become a malevolent dictator, deciding what was best for humanity. The Fact is, God made the rules a long time ago, and they don't/won't need to ever change, therefore-.... Wait, I'm rambling. If you want to continue to read my thoughts/fears of Superman, go check out the Blog Post I did. In this post, we're going to be looking deep into the thoughts and tragedies that plague the mind of the Doctor. Yes, THE Doctor. Doctor Who that is. Doctor Who? Exactly.

The Doctor. The Man With No Name. the Destroyer Of Worlds. The Man With 12 Faces (technically 13... Or 14.... Yeah it gets kind of complicated). The Doctor is an enigma to most. His face (or at least one of them) has popped up in places and times spanning the Earth's existence. He is our protector. He is our friend. He is also a raging lunatic (hate to just abruptly get silly, but I assure you, that is the nature of the Doctor [well again depending on what incarnation he is in at the time.... Confusing]).

The Doctor is actually an alien of the Species the Time Lords. Their home planet was/is Gallifrey. Now Time Lords are born with 2 hearts and the ability to when die "regenerate" into another form. It is still them: same memories, but it's also different: new physical features (sometimes even a new gender, but not for our Doctor). Time Lords also acquire what is known as a T.A.R.D.I.S.: Time And Relative D immersion In Space. It's a device that can literally transport you to any time or point in space. Not kidding. They're also known for being bigger on the inside. The TARDIS will take on a camouflage disguise itself. The Doctor's TARDIS is in the shape of an old timey police box on the outside. Most Time Lords also possess a sonic screwdriver: a device that is small and handheld, somewhat resembling a screwdriver, that is used to somehow altar settings and whatnot on machinery and technology in general. It's also very handy at opening doors.

The Doctor has currently been alive for over 2,000 years old. He has traveled to the destruction Earth and has had, and lost, hundreds of friends and allies. From men and women to alien life forms, and even a robot dog, the Doctor must always surround himself with "companions". From Susan Foreman, the very first Doctor's very first companion, all the way to Clara Oswald, the twelfth Doctor's current companion, the Time Lord has personally affected many, many lives..... And almost all of these instances end in tragedy.

The few instances that I am going to be elaborating on come from the ninth through eleventh "versions" of the Doctor spanning from 2005 to 2013 on the show. I'll try to choose just one calamity from each Doctor's "life" (but to be honest, their is SO MUCH that happens, I may just have a post dedicated to the Uh-Oh's and Mis-Haps of the Doctor and their resulting Tragedy).

The Ninth Doctor. Played by Christopher Eccelseton, The Ninth Doctor was probably my favorite Doctor. No, he wasn't the best, but he introduced me to the show, and left tremendous shoes to fill. This Doctor was angrier than the others. He wasn't nearly as "playful", or at least not until the end of his "cycle". Though we only had him for one short season, The Ninth Doctor did give us many emotional scenes during his reign. From the Destruction of Earth, to having a front row seat to the most traumatic thing his companion, Rose Tyler could go through: the death of her own father. Yes, the Ninth Doctor had many heart wrenching moments. But, the saddest has GOT to be his regeneration scene. Not only was it tragic because we were saying goodbye to the Doctor, but we had to sit and watch, helpless, and see his goodbye to Rose. Now granted, every regeneration is sad, don't get me wrong (I've balled at everyone). But this particular regeneration hit me in the feels, like no other regeneration has. This Doctor was the one the introduced me to the series. Not only that, but this Doctor reintroduced EVERYONE to the series. After the Eighth Doctor, there was a Nine year hiatus. Christopher Eccelston's Doctor was revolutionary for the show. He isn't everyone's favorite Doctor, but everyone was shocked when he left. Beyond just the fact that he was leaving, Rose's reaction made it that much more mournful. Rose has grown very fond of the Ninth Doctor. Some would argue that she's already fallen in love. This was the "man" that took for on a journey, and made her life one full of adventure. He's risked his life more than once for her. He gave her something that no one else could give her: the chance to meet her father. Now he's just going to leave? Or maybe not leave, but change? It's not going to be him anymore. When she cried, let's face it: we all cried. We all hurt. We ached. Regardless of your feelings towards Eccleston's portrayal of the Doctor, when he was "dying", I think everyone can agree with him. He was "Fantastic".

The Tenth Doctor. Arguably the very best of the Doctor's 2005 from and up, the Tenth Doctor was played by the One-of-a-Kind Treasure David Tennant. Tennant has a way of making you fall in love with his characters, no matter the show or film. The Tenth Doctor immediately picked up right where the Ninth Doctor left off; he was even in the same clothes and everything. To many viewers this was a shock, and was left feeling rather unsatisfied with Eccelston's final scene. But honestly, that's just what happens; when one Doctor's life span is ended, another immediately takes his place. It's his cycle. Tennant stepped onto the scene and really made the show. He really began the show's plot lines (again from 2005 up). With Eccleston you were introduced to certain key character's and races, like the Daleks. and we also met Captain Jack Harkness, but honestly Eccleston was just the means of easing us into the Whoniverse. Tennant really drove us deeper and deeper, making us become more and more invested in his reign as the Doctor. But the saddest thing about this particular Doctor was that, despite everything, He was always left alone. I know that that's kind of vague and it stretches over his whole time as the Doctor, so let me pick one instance: The Gas Chamber. In the season 4 finale The Doctor is still alive, and then he hears it: the four knocks. Wilfred, Donna's Grandfather, was the man who would knock four times. Wilfred is trapped inside the ventilation room, and the Doctor can only save him by getting in himself. This is what causes the Doctor to have to regenerate. In that moment, we see just how the Doctor feels, which isn't something that he shows too often. He's upset. He tries to fight it. He's angry. He could do So. Much. More. But then, he makes the decision. The decision that makes him The Doctor. He sacrifices himself for the betterment of mankind. As he's regenerating, he shares one final line, "I don't want to go." We didn't want you to go either David, you made the Doctor who he was.

The Eleventh Doctor. Let me set the scene: The world is bleak after losing one of the greatest men to helm the title of "The Doctor" of all time. We're anxious, and scared, and upset, and really feeling way too many emotions is that split second during the Tenth Doctor's regeneration. In steps......... Matt Smith, a rather goofy looking teen. Matt Smith, to me, wasn't the Doctor that we think that we deserved, but the one that we needed. He was young and goofy and unpredictable. He was very different from his predecessors. Eccleston was rather blunt and sarcastic, while Tennant was a weird combination of charming and nerdy. Smith was, ..... uhm, ...... well, ...... Smith! He's a dork, and he's zany, and full of life. His youth really worked well for him. He was still passionate about human life, and preferred to avoid physical confrontation just the Doctor always has, but this particular Doctor was very dependent upon his companions. Without them, he really couldn't function as the Doctor. Eccleston was anti-companion until Rose came along, and Tennant went through several different ladies, each one more smitten with him than the next. But with Smith, they aren't just a want or a preference, they're a necessary. So arguably, the most heartbreaking moment for The Eleventh Doctor was when his companions left him, during the episode entitled, "The Angels Take Manhattan". The weeping angels are defeated, or so the Doctor and his rag-tag gang of time travelers think. In an instant, Rory disappears, and an angel is seen behind where Rory was standing with an out-stretched hand. There's a tombstone with Rory's name on it, literally. There's a panic, and the Amelia, the very first companion of this Doctor's cycle, makes the decision to try and be with her now deceased husband. The Doctor is going crazy trying to convince her to stay, but her mind is made up. She's going. She turns her back to say goodbye, knowing that angel will touch here, and just like that she's gone. It devastates the Doctor.

Those are my choices for the most traumatic events that the Doctor has had to encounter for these particular cycle's of his life. That's the thing about the Doctor, he endures. He suffers. He deals with so much death, and gives up so much for OUR benefit. No other planet or race has been guarded with such devotion from the Doctor as we the human race on planet earth. That's what the Doctor wants us to understand: we are important, and we matter. We care. We love. We build, and when we have to we rebuild. That's what the Doctor has died so many times proving. We owe it to the Doctor to love and to live. To laugh and to cry. To make our lives matter, and not just give up when the going gets tough. He wants us to Run.

These are my thoughts on the Doctor. No, he isn't real, and yes, this is just a TV Show, but it's one that I love and that I become invested in, because this show goes beyond just entertainment. This show achieves at giving it's watchers one thing: hope. Hope for a better life. Hope for a future. Hope of love and adventure.

What do you guys think? What're your picks for the Doctor's most traumatic moments? Who play's your favorite Doctor? Let me know in the comments below. And as always, let your Geekery be what helps save the human race from a Dalek Invasion.

The Top 5 Horror Movies To Watch In 2015

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOLKS!!!! I hope it's spook-tacular for you and that you share your candy with your favorite blogger...... oh wait, no I mean me. Share it with me! It's Halloween, and in honor of the holiday I'm going to attempt to crank out several posts today. Instead of actually going out and participating the festivities, my friends and I will be having a movie marathon of some classics, and maybe some more modern selections. But with the new year right around the corner comes new movies, and that means more chances to get scared out of your mind. The other day I posted a list of all the movies to see in 2015, and with in that list I mentioned that I would do a post solely dedicated to recommending horror movies, and I'm finally delivering. So with that being said, here you go (*in thick Transylvanian accent* Brace yourselves ghouls and goblin...... muahahaha!):

The Top 5 Horror Movies To See In 2015

5) Insidious Chapter 3. Now some people may just be flat out tired of the Insidious movies. The first was was the best in my opinion. However, they still have that element of intrigue that still has me wanting to watch more. IMDb.com 's synopsis says, "A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity." Starring Dermot Mulroney , Lin Shaye, and Disney Channel's Stefanie Scott. This doesn't sound too bad, so I'll more than likely be in attendance when it hits theater's May 29.

4) Goosebumps. Yes, this was on my top 10 list to see in 2015, but I'm so excited about it that I'm going to use it again. This, to me, is a 100% horror film. Why? Because it genuinely scared the dog snot out of me as as child. IMDb.com's synopsis says, "A young kid teams up with the niece of young adult horror author R.L. Stine after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland." With Jack Black as R. L. Stine, this is one you definitely don't wanna miss. Coming to theaters on August 7.

3) Amatyville: The Awakening. IMDb.com says, "Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother's expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house." This is the prequel to the already made remake. While the Amityville remake with Ryan Reynolds is good on it's own and doesn't need a prequel, I must admit that I'm still intrigued to see the film, especially since it has Bella Thorn.  Go check it out on January 2.

2) Poltergeist. This I'm pretty pumped for! I've actually in just recently seen the original Poltergeist film (I know, it took me long enough.... Hush Up!) I loved it! It was awesome. Now, IMDb.com doesn't have any synopsis up, unfortunately. But, it does have the cast list, and it's pretty slammin': Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Nicholas Braun, and Jane Adams. I'm very excited about the upcoming remake. Despite most people's hesitance, I always try to remain optimistic about remakes and/or reboots, because nowadays there is so much that we can do what with CGI and animatronics and sooooo much more. So get ready for a paranormal adventure on July 24.

& finally, the number one horror film for is to see in 2015 is

1) Frankenstein. Shut. The. Front. Door! This movie is indeed the horror movie that I am MOST excited to see. No synopsis up yet on IMDb.com, but this cast. Dis Cast Dough!!! James McAvoy as the evil Dr, Daniel Radcliffe as IGOR, as well as Andrew Scott and Jessica Browk Findlay. So we have Harry Potter and Professor Xavier helping to make a monster! And then Jim Moriarty is there too! I'm so pumped! This is a classic story being told with some of today's top young actors. I can't wait for October 2 to get here!

There's my list! What do you guys think?Excited  about all of the Remakes? Upset that there isn't anything original coming to theaters? Don't care for horror at all? Let me know in the comments below. Happy Halloween, and be sure to share the Geekery for the season!

The Top 5 Video Games That Deserve A Movie (Or At Least A Good One)

Video Games being adapted into feature films is quickly growing popular now a days. From Resident Evil to Max Payne, to the now in-development pictures such as Assassin's Creed, and even the recent Need For Speed, it seems like almost any game can get made for the big screen. Now obviously not every game is currently in development, and some of the movies that have been made are less than great (the movie in the picture above, for example). This got me thinking, "What games DESERVE movies?" There are some games that have been around forever, and have either been neglected or wrecked when it comes to cinema. Then there are some games that are fairly recent, but there is just so much potential that Hollywood needs to capitalize on the opportunity, and the sooner the better! And for some games, the right movie could relaunch its popularity. So, here is a list I've compiled of:

The Top 5 Video Games That Deserve A Movie (Or At Least A Good One):

5) Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts (as some of you may know from previous posts) is one of my all-time favorite video games.  It's full of Disney characters, a good plot, and to make things better it's combined with the world of Final Fantasy. Now Final Fantasy has made a few animated film that were very well made. My proposition is that Disney make the film with the same style of animation. Disney produces a TON of animated films with Pixar, and I think that a Kingdom Hearts Movie would go over Great! Granted that with all of the cut-scenes in the game, combining them would practically be a movie itself. There's just so much story there, and just the fact that almost every Disney character EVER would be in the film would sell itself. It would also make dedicated Disney fans to go back and watch the original Disney movie of their favorite character, and it would also increase sales of the upcoming HD Remixes of the games AND promote sales for Kingdom Hearts 3.

4) Mortal Kombat. I'm aware that Mortal Kombat has had a few movies as well as TV series. My problem is that they just weren't made well (again that's in my opinion). I feel like modern special effects would help a lot. The right cast, the writers from the games (and maybe even some of the writes from DC Comics since they made the original comic series for Mortal Kombat) , and then a creative yet gory director like the team from Sin City (Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino) or a team of that nature, and there's great potential! I'm a big fan of the Mortal Kombat Series (and am VERY excited for the new game!), so I definitely don't want to see it ruined. And again, I'm not necessarily saying that the older adaptations are bad, I just feel like they could be done better now. I'm dying to see a Sub-Zero fatality in today's CGI!

3) Pokemon. HUR MAH DUR!!! If you have been keeping up with my posts, I'm a major Pokemon Geek! Pokemon has been around since 1998 (That's 16 years, and I'm 21). It's one of the few game series that not only has withstood the test of time, but is continually putting out products, and are being received well (yes it's met with skepticism the further it prolongs, but it's overall well received). It's also a franchise that is constantly putting out animated films (I think I've seen all of them now thanks to Netflix and HuluPlus). I'm more wanting a live-action film (which in a previous post I've already compiled the best choices as far as actors go for a live action film). My fear however is that either a) it's just too big of a project or that b) it would entirely toooo expensive to be done well. None of us want a botched film, especially when it's such an iconic franchise. But still, a live-action scene where a beautifully well made CGI Pickachu thunder-strikes Chris Hardwick and Chloe Dykstra as team rocket and sends them "blasting off again" is one of my dreams!

2) Left 4 Dead. The Left 4 Dead Series is a very special game to me; it helped fuel my once considered to be "unhealthy" zombie obsession. The game has only been around since 2008, but has quickly become a cult classic. It's got a great cast of characters, including a whiney bad-boy type and a babbling red-neck. The zombies are a combination of both 28 Days later type zombies along with "special infected" which resembles zombies from Resident Evil. What makes this game even more movie adaptable is that the game resolved around the survival of 4 very different characters, which would add a lot of potential drama between zombie killing. I know that the most people would say that the whole "survivors verses the living dead" thing almost played out, but honestly the elements with in this game, combined with the right director, could really stand out for itself. But with the game full of movie posters with killer tag-lines already, it'd be awesome if we could really see a No Mercy campaign movie!

$ finally, the video game that deserves a movie the MOST

1) Nintendo. I'm sorry, this is kind of cheating. I say Nintendo because their are SO many titles that deserve a decent movie. Obviously the Mario Brother's movie that's shown above was a bust. The Legend of Zelda had an animated tv show that didn't hold up. Sonic has had several disastrous adaptations. Metroid would be awesome if it was adapted. They ALL have been around forever and deserve a fair chance! Do individual films, dish out a Super Smash Bros movie and combine them all, or do like Marvel with the Avengers and do both (That's actually be pretty sweet!!)! I've heard that some of these are possibly in the works, but then again Ghostbusters 3 has been rumored for years now, so you can never really tell until that trailer pops up on YouTube or your TV. There's just so much potential with any one of these franchises. Zelda and Mario are growing more and more popular with each new video game instalment, and a Sonic movie could remind people just how awesome a blue hedgehog that has a money-hording really is! And Metroid could be the next Alien! But while we may not can decide which one deserves a movie the most, I think all of us are ready for a kickin' CGI Bowser!

That's my list! Any one of these ideas would make an amazing movie! Is there a game that I missed? Any suggestions on who could direct a live-action Kirby movie? Is the world ready for another Mortal Kombat movie? Let me know in the comments, and until next time, let the  Geekery that's inside all of us shine true!

5 Of Some Of The Geekiest Things I Do

Some of you may actually reading these posts, and for that I appreciate it. A lot. Some of you may even be "subscribers" and read all of my posts. It's unlikely, but again I appreciate it. But some of you may be wondering, "What makes him an 'expert'?" "What qualifies him as a geek?" Well, I will GLADLY tell you. So, without further ado:

5 Of Some Of The Geekiest Things I Do:
(From eh to woah!)

5) I Named My Car Carol. So, my first ever vehicle was a Jimmy that I called Jimmy (I know, lame). It was awesome, but, I was NOT used to maintaining vehicles. So, I never changed the oil, ...... and...... kapoowie. No more Jimmy. So I saved my money and got myself an '05 Nissan Altima. It's a great car, and i tried so hard to keep it in good shape. But, I have a brother, Joel Campbell (Twitter: @JoelCampbel17 and Youtube: Far From The Tree Productions please check out his content) who, I love him to death, I do, but he isn't the most graceful and/or cautious of drivers. Joel backed in to my Nissan the DAY BEFORE my first payment! HUR MA DUR! Then, one morning I get woken up by my mother telling me that Joel backed in to it, AGAIN, trying to get to school. This car has been viciously abused everything, including a dog, my best friend Dean (Twitter: @bubbadean11), and a pillar of a carport (ok that last one was me, but it was just a scrape, I promise). But the two biggest and most noticeable impacts on my car was from Joel. Now with me being the Walking Dead fanatic that I was, decided to name my car Carol, because she's been abused by men, but she's a valuable asset and get's me where I need to go.

4) I Still Have (and want to buy and play) Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards. I fell in love with Yu-Gi-Oh! growing up. I LOVED Pokemon, and wasn't very athletic or studious in elementary/middle school. My cousin Will introduced me first to the show. I was at first confused, but the more I continued to watch, i became enthralled. Growing up I got a weekly allowance of $5, which was perfect because the local Movie Gallery weekend rentals were $4.99, and so were a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards. I collected and collected and traded and traded and really spent WAY to much of my parents money on them. Dean and I loved to play and would Duel each other all the time.  One year for Christmas my aunt and uncle actually got me my own Duel Disk! It was AMAZING! Another awesome thing was that when I got into Jr. High, everybody at school played, even the faculty! We had a club at school on Saturdays. I eventually got to where I had two awesome decks: one that was Dragon, Wizard, Warrior based, and the other was an Elemental Hero Deck (I know that most people think that the elemental hero cards are overrated, but honestly it works, and it if it didn't it wouldn't make people as angry). So I kept them. I have an urge every time I go to Walmart to go look and buy. I have no one to play with anymore, but whenever a challenger ever comes my way, I'll be ready to use the "Heart of the Cards!"

3) My Current Voice Mail Is Me Imitating The 11th Doctor. I've mentioned in previous posts that I've recently this year been introduced to Dr. Who and am Obsessed! Well, a few weeks back one of the younger kids at church were messing around with my voice mail and I was like, "Hey, I do a mean Matt Smith.... I'ma make a Dr. Who voice mail!" So I did....... And it's stayed that way out of sheer laziness. I've gotten a lot of calls since then..... including calls from my parents, my pastor, church members, and I wanna say an actual preaching appointment (this is meant to be funny, but some of you are just gonna be all shake my head this is so sad). So..... yeah......

2) Explain to People Why My Social Media Alias is 2nd Tier Guardian. This is something that i get asked fairly regularly "Where did you come up with the name?" "What does it mean?" I am a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan (yes, even before it came out as a movie). Rocket Raccoon has been one of my favorite Marvel characters for years now. So when I found out about the movie, I was PUMPED! I saw the movie and absolutely LOVED IT!!! So beautifully made. I had also been having problems with my first twitter account. I for some reason was continuously and involuntarily following Hebrew-posting people for some reason, and I couldn't make it stop, so I deactivated the account. However, I have an addiction to social media, and needed a new account. This was shortly after watching Guardians, so it was fresh on my mind. Thus, 2nd Tier Guardian was created (Twitter: @2ndTierGuardian). The idea was that whenever the Guardians of the Galaxy are busy and someone still requires aid, they can just call me, 2nd Tier Guardian. After I made the new account, I later started this blog, and soon I just replaced all of my social media accounts with the name (except Facebook, I have to keep more professional looking for work).

& finally, by far one of the geekiest things I've EVER done

1) Have Sat Down And Have Determined The Best Casting Choice For A Live-Action Pokemon Movie. As those of you that have kept up with these posts can probably tell, I'm big into Pokemon. Now I know that most people are all, "Oh man, first gen or nothing!" I'm not like that, I've quite enjoyed all of the generations. However, if a live-action movie is going to be made (and it should!) then they've got yo start with the first gen. So, being the fan that I am, I teamed up with one of best friends in the world Jared (Twitter: @jaredconatser) one week at church camp, and we have compiled the perfect Cast for a First Generation Pokemon Movie! It is as followed:

Dream Cast for 1st Gen Pokemon Movie

Ash Ketchum-Josh Hutcherson
Misty-Emma Stone
Brock-Taylor Lautner
Professor Oak-Kristoff Waltz
Gary-Adam Scott
Jesse-Chloe Dykstra
James-Chris Hardwick
Meowth-Bill Hader
Giovani-Hugo Weaving
Nurse Joy-Emily Blunt
Officer Jenny-Anna Kendrick

Before some of you get outraged over the whole Taylor Lautner thing: tell me a better choice...... That's what I though. It just seems to make sense.

But there ya go! That's just a few of the geekiest things I do. Let me know what you all think, and please, share if you can out geek-me. And, look forward to another post about more geeky things I do. Continue onward in the way if Geekery my friends!

My Best Friends & Their Group Stereotypes

I have a great group of best friends. I know that usually the term "best friend" is reserved for one person, or at most a small select few, but honestly, the people that I am going to be posting about are ALL my best friends. "But wait, why is he posting about this in a blog about geeky things?!?" Trust me, all of these people are geeks (even if they don't admit it). Some of them have been my best friends ever since I was born, and some came later in life, but all of them have been there for me, and all have them have enriched me with Geekery!

Each friend has either introduced something to me, or we experienced something together, or we discovered and thwarted an attempt at world domination. Or something like that. These are people I would definitely want with me during a zombie outbreak, alien invasion, horror movie situation, or just to chill out and play xbox or cosplay with. So, here are:

My Best Friends & Their Group Stereotype:
(I will only be using first names for their own discretion)

Joel (My Brother) = The Quiet One. Joel is by far my absolute closest friend in the world. Some people say that brothers can't be friends, but them I say, ''Silence Mortals!'' Joel is the resident quiet one in my circle of friends. While when it's just the two of us he never really shuts up, whenever we go out on adventures, Joel is silent. Stone Cold Killer Quiet. he may snicker or say a brief statement, but then it's back to quietly plotting our demise.... I mean..... Cookies! Joel and I share many things in common, and experienced almost everything together. We love watching Saturday Night Live and Impractical Jokers, playing Super Smash Bros and Diablo 3, and making videos. Joel is actually planning to go to school where he can actually hone the craft. We actually are both working on two separate scary short films! It's gonna be awesome whenever we get everything worked out. I'll be sure to post them on here! Just don't expect Joel to do many speaking parts.

Dean = The Wildcard. Dean has been my best bud since we were 3 years old. We were best friends all through school (except that one dark year, 3rd grade, where he went to a different school..... I can't talk about it; I get too emotional) and still are. Dean's a true geek if I've ever seen one. But it's interesting; he's also a real country bumpkin. So you never really know what to expect from him. Hence the wildcard. He'll go from talking about Borderlands and going on and on about how Deadpool could beat Colossus (which he so can not Dean, I'm sorry [that's his and mine favorite super heroes]) to ranting about Obama and how Hank Williams Jr. is true country and all of these yahoo's nowadays are ruining country music. And before you go dissing his geek cred, trust me; he's legit. We're talking anime binge-watching, Fallout playin', Warp Zone loving fool. Half of his biweekly checks go straight to Gamestop. He will literally work for tacos (that doesn't really testify to his geekery, but I just thought I'd throw it in). Not afraid to make a fool of himself in public, and is always ready for a road trip or an adventure. He also literally stays with me every other weekend and brings his own TV and Xbox and stays in my recliner 70 out of the 72 hours he's here. Dean is definitely a, .... Dang it..... what's that thing in Uno where you pick the color? Oh yeah, WILDCARD!

Jared = The Busy One. (He's gonna kill me for using this) We met at a church camp probably 6 or 7 years ago now, and we've been best pals ever since. Jared is a Pastor, a Teacher, and a Gas Station Worker person, thingy..... So it's understandable that he's ALWAYS BUSY! But it's OK, were still friends. Somewhere in all of that he's a geek. Jared kindled my Magic the Gathering flame! He's hardcore MTG though, like almost to an unhealthy level. (No, not really. I only exaggerate because I know he's going to read this.) We also obsessively watch Face Off and Wizard Wars on Syfy. I always invite him over to watch, but.......

Dustin = The One "So Far Away". Dustin and I met my freshman year at Seminary. I believe he was wearing a Batman logo-ed t-shirt with a Superman Messenger Bag. It was geeky bromance at first sight. Dustin and I were slackers in seminary (we actually started a club). During lunch breaks we would always run over to Hastings and browse all of it's epicness. One day a group of us all chipped in and bought Ninja Turtles plastic cups and Rocked them in the next class. Were funny looks given? Absolutely. But when your shell brothers are with you, you make like a Taylor Swift song and "Shake It Off". The few times we were able to get together outside of class involved road trips out of states and going to see the latest Carrie movie. We also watched the Mid-Season 4 Walking Dead Premiere together.  But alas, we both wound up dropping out of seminary (at different times for different reasons). Now we're at opposite ends of the state and never get to hang. We keep up with each other via Facebook (he challenged me to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which I accepted and OWNED!). But much like the Hemmorage lyrics by Fuel, Dustin is "So faaaaaar away".

Adam = The Uber Intelligent One. I met Adam just over a year ago, and we quickly became best amigos. I was the Pastor his Mom's church, and she introduced us. We instantly connected and now a church and a job later, we still get together quite frequently. He's actually coming over later this week. Adam is a major film buff, specifically 80's horror/slasher. The thing about Adam is that he's a GENIUS! Adam has been through more school then I EVER care to endure. He is an avid gamer, though he prefers vintage games (maybe because he just about every video game console, ever..... even an old Galaga arcade system!!!!). Adam is dedicated to sharing classic cinema with me (I haven't seen many of the "Classics"). We've watched Jaws, Dual, Star Trek 2: Wrath of Kahn, the original Carrie, The Shining (movie, not mini-series), Alien, Aliens (His FAVORITE!!!!!!), the original Robocop, Road Warrior, the original black and white Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Japanese film Battle Royale, and then we've also seen more recent movies in theaters, such as The Amazing Spider Man 2 (there is SUCH a funny story to go with that), Guardians of the Galaxy, and Annabelle. He's introduced me to the amazingly awesome website Steam (I know, I'm a failure for taking so long to learn about it), and also the Now Playing Podcast, which if youve never heard of it go subscribe right now and listen to them review movies. (Go ahead, I'll wait..... Right now..... GO!). We'll watch movies together, and then he'll go to tell me his opinions, and his vocabulary is so large and he's so passionate that I'm left with jaw open going, "Uhm, ....... yeah.... me too........ I like it when the guy says, 'Game over man!'......" But that's Adam, the "brains" of the group.

Chris = The Family Man. So most of you probably know by now that I'm a Christian. I'm actually a Youth Pastor. When I came to the church that I'm serving at I met Chris, one of the youth leaders. Chris and I have become almost inseparable. The only thing standing in the way of our bromance is his wife and kids. HA! Just kidding, Chris' wife and kids are amazing! Chris is a huge geek (Actually he and Adam are both Nerds, but we'll let it slide). He used to be a big games back in college. He's told me that he and his buddies would get together and play Mario Kart weekends at a time, and swears that NO ONE can beat him at Golden Eye on the 64. I was actually telling someone recently that if Chris wasn't married and a father that we'd probably live together, and when I told him he was like, "You would so cause me to become addicted to video games again!" I guess fortunately for him he is married and a father, and it's awesome because his kids are being trained in the ways of geekery! As much as we love to hang with each other, his responsibilities keep us from going on many epic quests, therefore earning the label "Family Man", but I wouldn't want it any other way (I respect him for being a father and husband first above all else [and a Christian above that]).

Nicole = The Girl. Every group needs a Girl! Batman and Superman have Wonder Woman. The Avengers have Black Widow. Mario and Luigi have Peach. Heck! Even the Ghost Busters have their secretary! Nicole is our girl. Nicole is a couple of years older than me, and while we've known each other for a good long while, we never really started to hang until after I graduated. Nicole is majorly active in her church, and is always upbeat and happy. She's the sunshine to our groups ecosystem (Wait, ..... Did that make sense? Oh well!). She's a major Marvel maniac, a Doctor Who enthusiast, and one of the only other fans of Once Upon A Time that I've been able to find and get excited over! And while she's swimming in a sea of testosterone, she's always up for just about anything and still remains feminine.

James = The Instigator. "Oh boy Marge!" James, James, James...... What can you say? Once my Youth Pastor and now the Bowser to my Mario...... Just Kidding (He's a Major Mario fan, so I had to work that in there somehow)! James is a dear friend. When he was my Youth Pastor he took me under his wing and tried to impart his wisdom to me, and now that we're both adults and friends, he challenges me. He wants me to formulate my own opinion and not just take other people's word. We don't always agree, but no two friends will always see eye to eye. We do however both enjoy playing Munchkin, Mario, and going to the movies. James is a mega-nerd, and I love it! He's also, "The Instigator"! (That'd be a sweet Villain Name!)

(Now the last two are married, so I'm going to do them together)

& finally

JW and Allison (My Aunt and Uncle) = The Guru and The One That Gives Great Advice. Some people may think it's lame, but yes, my aunt and uncle are two of my very best friends. They're a team. JW is the gaming guru, and while Allison used to be a major gamer herself, they have a a family now, so she's become very maternal, so she's become more of a confidant. They're a yin and yang when it comes to our friendship. JW is the person I go to for gaming advice, and Allison is the one I go to for personal advice. These two introduced Joel and myself to gauntlet: Dark Legacy (which is the greatest game EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and the Diablo Series, as well as the Gears of War Series and XCOM. They've also helped me through other areas of my life where I've needed guidance (JW has also surrendered to the ministry) such as with women, ministry, regrets, family tragedies, etc.. JW will play through an entire Gears of War game through a night where as Allison and I will laugh and talk and solve the mysteries of the universe in a night. And it's not that I can't talk to JW about serious matters or play video games with Allison, this is just the roles that they've taken on in our friendship, and I'm happy to have a game loving uncle and an advice giving aunt.

HONORABLE MENTION:

Drew = The "Board" One. Drew has been one of my best comrades for years now! We both surrendered to ministry when we were young, and grew up as Brothers in Christ. He's currently in China right now teaching English. One thing that Drew loves is being "board". Board games that is! Drew and I love playing table top games! He introduced me and Joel to (and actually sold us the game to go to China) Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game. He also sold me his copy of Munchkin, which he taught Joel and I to play as well. He's a great friend, and I can't wait to get to play some games with him when he get's back from China. We'll be "board" together!

So those are my Best Friends! What do you think? What are your friends like? Have any like mine? Le me know in the comments below! And when you have children, make sure to train them in the ways of Geekery. Otherwise, this planet will Fall!

The Top 10 Movies To See In 2015

With 2014 winding down and there not being too to many more movies to see this year (check out my previous post in the movies still left to see this year), everyone is anticipating the upcoming films for next year. 2015 is definitely going to be a movie FULL of epic cinema! My bank account may become extinct from gas and movie tickets!! So naturally I have a list of films that we all need to see. Please note that I won't be posting any spoilers, just the film title and the synopsis from IMDb.com, and then a comment about why I'm so excited about it. Now, with that being said..... Hold on to your hats, because I am about to do something I've NEVER DONE BEFORE!!!! Prepare yourselves...... A Top 10 List (Sorry that not every movie poster is featured in the picture. I couldn't find all of the posters and i couldn't find an app that would let me add all 10 posters.)! So here it is:
The 10 Movies I Can't Wait To See In 2015

10) Inside Out. "Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school." Why is this on my list? 1) Disney. 2) Pixar. And 3) Bill Hader and Amy Poehler. Experts in comedy combined with the classic elements of Disney and Pixar, and this will be amazing! Coming to theaters June 19.

9) Cinderella. "The story of 'Cinderella' follows the fortunes of young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine and her daughters Anastasia and Drizella into the family home. But, when Ella's father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella since she used to work in the cinders, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother's dying words and to 'have courage and be kind.' She will not give in to despair nor despise those who abuse her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an employee at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears as if her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming 'Kit.' Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar woman steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella's life forever." This is another Disney film, which is again one of the main reasons I want to see this. I also love (as you will know from one of my previous posts) fairy-tales and fairy-tale adaptations. I've loved the Alice in Wonderland film by Disney as well as Oz: The Great And Powerful, and I super wanna see Maleficent. Also this movie has Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, and then Hayley Atwell and Stellan Skarsgard (who has both been in Marvel/Disney films), who are all just phenomenal actors and actresses. Coming to theaters March 13.

8) Pan. "The story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny -- to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan." I promise that this will be the last Disney film on the list..... ok well technically. This film has the shortest synopsis, but it has some of the biggest names for their casts. Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyried, as well as Garrett Hedlund has got me more than intrigued. Also, Peter Pan is one of my all time favorite Disney Films, only second to The Black Cauldron (which my fingers are crossed that one day they'll try to live-action remake it) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Captain Hook is my all time favorite Disney villain/character. Coming to theaters Jully 17.

7) Goosebumps. "A young kid teams up with the niece of young adult horror author R.L. Stine after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland." This is on my list because I was absolutely HORRIFIED of this series growing up. But, I love it now! I love Horror!! The Goosebumps series is hilarious, and this new movie coming up has Jack Black as R. L. Stine himself. It also has Dylan Minnette, who is in the recent Disney film Alexander and the blah blah blah blah blah, as well as Halston Stage from Disney's A.N.T. Farm, and Ryan Lee from Super 8. Then as far as adults from non-Disney films there's Kumail Nanjani and Ken Marino. Coming to theaters August 7.

6) Kingsman: The Secret Service. "A veteran secret agent takes a young upstart under his wing." That's straight up all that IMDb.com synopsis. This is gonna be an action packed and start-studded film. It's awesome who all is in this: Samuel Jackson, Colin Firth, Mark Hamill, Mark Strong, Michael Caine, Jack Davenport (Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean), and I think the noteworthy Richard Brake (Chill from the Nolan Trilogy Batman). Now I'm not usually one for just action movies, but this looks like it will be just as funny as it will be action-packed. Coming to theaters February 13.

5) Jurassic World. Unfortunately there is no synopsis available on IMDb.com. I hope that you all don't crucify me, but I haven't seen a Jurassic Park movie. I saw a couple of snippits of the first movie, but that's it. I would definitely like to see them, don't get me wrong. This movie has another big cast: Chris Pratt, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson, Vincent D'Onforio, Nick Robinson, BD Wong, and then the very funny Eric Edelstein. Coming to theaters June 12.

4) Ant-Man. "Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world." I am SO PUMPED for these last few picks, and I am a HUGE Ant-Man fan in the comics. Ant-Man really isn't that well known to most people, only to the few dedicated comic fans, until recently. This cast is amazing (I know I keep hyping casts, but honestly you could have a great movie but if you cast Frankie Muniz and Billy Zane, then the movie is still going to be crap): Paul Rudd, michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Judy Greer (again), Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, John Slattery, T.I. (???),  and Michael Pena. I'm pumped to see how Ant-Man will effect the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Phases 2 and 3 of the Avengers Line-Up. Coming to theaters July 17 (the same weekend as Pan).

3) Mad Max: Fury Road. "An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland." Honestly, the only movie I've seen in the mad Max series is Road warrior. I loved it! It was awesome, and very VERY different. I'm pretty excited for Fury Road. It's got a pretty killer cast with Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hault, Zoe Kravitz, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Coming to theaters May 15.

2) Star Wars Episode 7. This is all IMDb.com has to say, "A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi (1983)." I know for a fact that I would be crucified if I didn't put this at close to the top of my list. Star Wars Episode 7 is definitely something that I am chomping at the bits to see. I've sen all of the films, but different parts at different times, so I will definitely be watching all of them before I go see the film. J. J. Abrams has geniusly brought back original stars from the series as well as a ton of up and coming actors: Harrison Ford, Adam Driver, Domhall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, and the most recent Warwick Davis. Coming to theaters December 18.

& finally, my absolute, hands-down, gotta see it movie in 2015

1) Avengers: Age of Ultron. "When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and it is up to The Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans." HUR MAH DUR!!!!!!! This is the absolute most important film to me next year. I mean Holy Poop! Marvel has absolutely discovered the secret to making series of films. Literally on IMDB.com the first 18 actors are huge: Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Spader, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Colbie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Paul Bettany, Andy Serkis, Lou Ferrigno, Stellan Skarsgard (whoot whoot), Stan lee, and Don Cheadle. We've had 5 films leading up to the first Avengers film, and have had our 4 leading up to Avengers: Age of Ultron. I Can Not WAIT! Coming to theaters May 1.

And there she is, my Top 10 Movies To See In 2015. What do you guys think? Anything you're wanting too see even more than Age of Ultron? Dreading the newest installment of Star Wars?? The 5 Best Modern Adaptation To Fairytales

I'm a big fan of Fairy Tales. Always have been. I can remember going on a family vacation to Texas to visit my Aunt and Uncle and stopping and buying the Complete Collection of Grimm Fairy Tales. It was magical! Since then my love for these enchanting stories has grown, and nowadays, fairy tales are growing more and more popular. Disney has made a fortune from taking these stories and making animated (and now live-action) films! But Disney isn't the only corporation cashing in on the oppurtunity; everyone today is riding the Fairy Tale Train. From comics to video games, and tv to juvenile literature, modern adaptations to fairy tales are everywhere! And I eat it UP!!! What I love even more is that they aren't just telling the same old story. In some instances it's just small twists, but in most of the adaptations that are being made the creators and making some big changes, and it's in a good way! They're making the lore their own by piecing together whole like a puzzle, or even tossing the script and making something new and exciting. It's wonderful! So, without further ado, my list of:

The 5 Best Modern Adaptations To Fairytales

5) Sisters Grimm. This is a series of children's books that centers around 2 sisters. (From Wikipedia) "Sabrina and Daphne Grimm have gone through a series of foster homes after their parents disappear. They have been treated as maids, servants, and other things that children shouldn't be. They've even been abused and ignored. This is mostly because they have a harsh and uncaring caseworker, Ms. Smirt, who is supposed to help find a safe new home for them. After all of their trouble, they end up in the care of their long-lost and supposedly dead grandmother whom Sabrina believes is crazy. They soon find that they are living in a town of Everafters, live characters from fantasy and fairy tales. Their family business is working as detectives, who solve mysteries that might be connected to the disappearance of their parents. Unluckily for them, an evil group of Everafters, called The Scarlet Hand, are determined to find a way out of the barrier created by a witch and take over the world; they also have to deal with Puck the fairy boy that lives with them. This barrier stops the Everafters in Ferryport Landing from leaving. The only way to destroy the barrier is if all the Grimms leave the town or if they all die." I started reading this series in Jr. High and LOVED IT! And I hated reading then. The problem was that the series wasn't finished; I believe they were only up to book 6. The series is published by Abrams Books, but Michael Buckley is the author, and he has done a fantastic job of taking the classic tales and weaving together a beautiful and yest still mysterious series, that could honestly be enjoyed by anyone if any age. The series is complete now, so I've gone back and started re-reading them on my Kindle. You should DEFINITELY check out this series!

4)  Grimm. "There once was a man who lived a life so strange, it had to be true. Only he could see what no one else can—the darkness inside...the real monster within...and he's the one who must stop them. This is his calling. This is his duty. This is the life of a Grimm." That's the opening line from this NBC series. (From Wikipedia) " Homicide investigator Nick Burkhardt of the Portland Police Department learns he is descended from a line of 'guardians' known as 'Grimms', charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world called Wesen, the German word for being or creature (pronounced 'vessin'). Throughout the series, he must battle against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his reformed Wesen friend Monroe, and his partner Detective Hank Griffin." The show is similar to the Sisters Grimm series of books in the sense that the main character's are descendants of the Brother's Grimm, who is very widely regarded as the Father's of Fairy Tales. But, this show is different because it's more of an adult setting. There is more of a gritty feel to the show. It's much darker, because many of the vessin's are murdering people. I don't want to give anything away, however, so I'll just say that you Definitely need to check out this show!

3) Fables. Now we're getting to the good stuff! (From Wikipedia) "Fables is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as 'Fables' – who have been forced out of their Homelands by 'The Adversary' who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at 'the Farm' in upstate New York." In the series, we have Sherriff Bigby Wolf, who is actually the infamous Big Bad Wolf, trying to keep order in the community, but because of his past in the Homelands, it's sometimes difficult for him to do his job. Snow White is the deputy mayor of the town, which often means that all of the work is dumped on her. Then there's just so many other characters, I couldn't name them all in this post. You have GOT to check out this series. When I said that Grimm was gritty and dark, then Fables is ruthless and chilling. It's great! Warning though, this series is meant for older, more mature readers. Check it out!

2) The Wolf Among Us. (From Wikipedia) "The Wolf Among Us is an episodic graphic adventure video game based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic book series. It is developed and published by Telltale Games and distributed by Vertigo and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is canon with the comic book universe and is set as a prequel to the comic book." This video game is amazing! It's interactive, has amazing graphics, and has a good story that will keep you wanting more and have you depressed when you've finished. But, the beauty of it being put out by Telltale Games is that you can go back and make different decisions, there by playing a completely different game! It's epic! And it can get extremely explicit, so it isn't for everyone. You've been warned! But the game is centered around a series of mysterious murders that Bigby and Snow have to inestigate. Trust me when I say that the further you investigate, the weirder it gets, and the more you'll get sucked in. Eventually you'll be all, "Wait, WHAT?!?" I promise! So go get the game now!

& finally, my favorite modern adaptation to Fairy Tales has Got to be

1) Once Upon A Time. This series is Amazing!!!!! (From Wikipedia) "The series takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, in which the residents are actually characters from various fairy tales and other stories that were transported to the 'real world' town and robbed of their original memories by the Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parrilla), using a powerful curse obtained from Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle). The residents of Storybrooke, where Regina is mayor, have lived an unchanging existence for 28 years, unaware of their own lack of aging. The town's only hope lies with a bail bonds-woman and bounty hunter named Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), the daughter of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas), who was transported from the Enchanted Forest (which was also called Misthaven) to our world as an infant before she could be cursed. As such, she is the only person who can break the curse and restore the characters' lost memories. She is aided by her son, Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), with whom she has recently reunited after giving him up for adoption upon his birth, and his Once Upon a Time book of fairy tales that holds the key to ending the curse. Henry is also the adopted son of Regina, providing a source of both conflict and common interest between the two women.

Episodes usually have one segment that details the characters' past lives which, when serialized, adds a piece to the puzzle about the characters and their connection to the events that preceded the curse and its consequences. The other, set in the present day, follows a similar pattern with a different outcome but also offers similar insights."

I know that some of you are thinking, "Hey, I've seen that and it's a chick show full of drama and blah blah blah." The thing is, it isn't just a chick show. Yes, it'd full of drama, but so are the original stories. Show White is all about the anger of a woman who finds out that someone else is prettier than her. The Wizard of Oz is about two women fighting over shows! Once Upon A Time is excellent because they weave all of the famous stories into one big story. It's also great about adding depth and getting you emotionally invested in once overlooked characters. You'll root for the bad guys, cry when the good guys get temporarily thwarted, and want to go back and watch every Disney movie ever made! It's fantastic. Check out Once Upon A Time every Sunday night on ABC at 8:00 p.m..

But that's my list! These are by far the greatest most splendiferous most amazing modern adaptations of fairy tales (OK, maybe I exaggerated a bit there haha.) What do you guys think?? Anything I left off, or anything I should've added? Please let me know in the comments below. And as always, may the geekery forever be in your favor!
